(The Former Naval Reserve Site)
Homes for Good is proud to partner with Head Start of Lane County and Early Childhood CARES to develop an innovative model for housing that will co-locate 81 units of new Affordable Housing with an Early Learning Center to address the need for affordable housing and affordable childcare in our community. A mix of one, two, and three-bedroom units will accommodate households large and small. The development will consist of two four-story buildings centered around community green space and ample parking for residents. The site, designated for affordable housing development, is currently owned by the City of Eugene who awarded Homes for Good this site through a competitive selection process along with significant financial resources.
PIVOT Architecture has been awarded the contract for architectural services and Homes for Good has selected Chambers Construction as the Construction Manager/General Contractor through an RFP process.
The award of LIFT funds and 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credits from OHCS represents the final piece of our funding package after generous contributions from the City of Eugene and State of Oregon, and ensures that this project will be able to break ground in summer 2024
About the Name
Homes for Good conducted a survey to get community feedback on the naming of the site. 28 Community members took the survey to suggest names, and provide feedback on suggested names. With this information, staff selected “Ollie Court” to be the name of one of our newest Affordable Housing developments.
Over 60% of people who took the survey liked a “Human/Character”name for the development. “Ollie” a gender-neutral nickname short for “Oliver” or “Olivia” represents not a specific person, but the sentiment of a child-likename, connecting it to the Early Learning Center which will be onsite.
Oliver has been in the top 100 male names in the US according to the US Social Security Administration, being the 3rd most popular male name from 2019-2021. Olivia has been on the top 10 female names since 2001 in the US according to the US Social Security Administration, and the most popular female name from 2019-2021.
